If your system ignores your capacity â youâll burn out.
If your system ignores your goals â youâll stay stuck.
Part 1.
This module is divided into two parts because you need time. Time to record the ways youâre currently working and time to reflect on the ways youâre currently behaving. Weâll do Part one this week and Part Two next week when youâve collected all the data you need.
â° Not All Time is Equal
Before you go planning your amazing new publishing rhythm, letâs look a bit deeper at time.
Thereâs time, and then thereâs TIME.
Youâve got two kinds of creator time in your week:
đ§ High Focus Time â This is when your brainâs firing on all cylinders and youâre most creative This is your content goldmine. Use this time for the stuff that moves the needle the most: writing posts, building products, making videos, outlining your next offer. Deep work. Creator energy on steroids.
đŹ Low Focus Time â For some people this is the scroll-and-tap zone. For others it can go as far as editing, adjusting layouts etc, Everyoneâs different but itâs important youâre honest with yourself. Youâre still showing up, but youâre more reactive than creative. Think: replying to comments, checking Substack Chats, reading other peopleâs posts, tweaking your About page for the 12th time.
Hereâs the problem:
Most people spend their high-focus time doing low-focus tasksâŚ
and then wonder why their high focus work takes so long.
đ¤Śââď¸ Oops
Iâve created a spreadsheet so that you can track your Substack time because this is serious, and guess work isnât an option.
